Miaoli。Sanyi Wood Sculpture Cultural and Creative Park
Wood carving is a unique art native to the region and is intricately linked to the material it is crafted from. It has a long history and carries precious experiences and techniques passed down by artists from ancient times to the present day. It represents the accumulated art of years. The design of the park integrates the concept of wood grain from the base terrain texture, transforming the art of subtraction into architectural spaces and configurations. This interpretation of skillful carving translates Hakka cultural imagery into functionality and aims to pass on and continue the culture of wood carving. The Hakka culture is represented by the words "hide" and "brew". "Hidden" means not to show, but to feel and discover the beauty. The museum uses spatial demarcation to hide the culture, while the stores are arranged obliquely to create the largest area of store entrances, remaining hidden within the building. "Brewing" refers to preserving meaningful and valuable products through the experience of time. The park combines this concept with solar energy to brew energy and emphasizes the need to preserve the original species of trees for ecologically sustainable development. The park aims to create a living area suitable for coexistence, embracing a common living environment, diversified industrial clusters, economic development, and resource sharing. It reflects culture in traditions and practical education, and peace is seen as the ultimate strategy for the park's sustainability. The park also seeks to ease local traffic congestion through the connection between the transit station and the road, while also reserving the largest green area for an outdoor performing arts plaza. The International Conference Hall integrates artist workshops with an outdoor platform to allow for observation and learning. The park also includes an innovative merchandise street connected to workshops and hotels, systematically displaying woodcarving of a certain level for more people to appreciate the art.
